Why the Back Road Home

If you think about it, the interstate or the highway is the most efficient way to get from point A to B. You don't have to deal with traffic lights so there’s not much stop and go unless, of course, there’s an accident. Most of us are moving through life so quickly we just need to get to our destination, as soon as possible, so we can move onto the next thing. Naturally, the highway is the fastest route.

For some people, taking the back road is the only route. The speed of highway travel goes against their natural need to move at a slower pace. I am not one of those people. But, think about the times when interstate traffic was rerouted and you were forced to take a country road or a series of back roads before you were able to get back on the interstate. It may have been a difficult road to navigate and the thought of not making it to your destination on time gave you heart palpitations. Look at you, still alive and breathing! You still got to where you needed to go, it just took a bit longer.

Much the like the highway or the backroad, the paths we take in life may start off at one pace and then we're rerouted to something that feels more like a back road. Slow forward-movement with lots of stops, well meaning drivers moving at a snails pace and the occasional animal that wonders or jumps into the road. If we're not paying attention we might miss the big "DETOUR" signs and wind up getting lost and feel like we're spending eternity trying to find our way back to right route. If you're anything like me, you get frustrated or angry and at some point we're forced to take a look around to try to figure out where we are. Again, it might take a while but you get to where you need to be.

Whether it's your preferred route or a required detour the back roads are a necessary change in our path and pace. The back roads are typically more scenic and give us an opportunity to appreciate nature. Our eyes may be drawn to a quirky house, street name, lawn ornaments or a roadside store we would never have seen had we not taken this route. We pay attention. Initially, we may not have wanted to take the back road but we've found an alternative route to our destination.

The Back Road Home embraces the alternative route and the understanding that the fastest route is not always the best route, especially for those on a spiritual path. We all want to get home or to a place that feels like home. We want to get to a safe place, back to ourselves, or to become a better, more fulfilling, version of ourselves. When we take the time to slow down and pay attention we're better able to connect with nature, ourselves and our Spirit Teams. We are better able to appreciate the Goodness of The Divine and how The Divine is working in or lives. We are better able to receive spiritual guidance. And, while The Back Road Home is not for everyone it is available to those who understand the that they've been rerouted for a reason and despite whatever difficulties encountered choose to continue on the path.

If you're on this path...you're not alone! I'm here to help.
